Rugby, Yesterday, The exact time faken by the 19 years old South African girl, Peggy Duncan, to swim the Chan- nel was 16 hours 17 minutes. She is the first person to swim the Channel this year. The coldness
of the water, and the flood tide, which swept her away from her course when she was quite close to Dover Harbour, spoiled her chances of creating a record.
