STONE THROWN AT BUS CONDUCTOR.

AN IRATE PASSENGER.

An unemployed seaman was to day charged before Mr. T. S. Whyte Smith with having thrown a stone at a bus conductor of the Kowloon Motor Bus Company Ltd., which might have caused damage.

Defendant's plea was that the motor bus was travelling along Prince Edward Road to Kowloon City.

At Mau Tou Wei he wanted to get off but the conductor did not pay any heed to his request, and took him to the next stopping place. He became very angry, and after the conductor swore at him he (de fendant) picked up a stone and

threw it at the vehicle,

His Worship (Interposing): have never heard a bus. conductor. call out "anybody want to get off". Although I don't know the language. I know that they do so very seldom.

Mr. Ip (Interpreter): I have heard them say that, but very, very sel- dom.

His Worship: Yes, about once in every three months! Continuing his version, the conductor said that the defedant did not signify his Intention of calling out and so the 'bus took him to the next stopping place-Bing Wong Tol.

... Magistrate: You should have let him know sooner that you want- ed to get off... Defendant: talking, at the time.

He saw the accused running away with his clock from verandah to verandah, until he reached an empty fat at house No. 37., Complainant blew a Police whistle and the thief was arrested,

Pointing, out that the accused had twice been convicted previous ly, once for Tarceny and once for unlawful possession, passed sen- tence of four months' hard labour.
