PROBABLES FOR THE ST. LEGER.

London, Yesterday.

Mr. Goldman's argument in favour of the increase was that

was not a good idea to have youths of 18 or under in the Club. They had a bar where drinks could be had on credit.. If the youths could not afford to pay an extra $5 a year, it stood to reason that they also could not afford to pay $2 or $3 per month for drinks. Besides, the present subscription of $5, had been in force for a number of years, and he had "never seen any young members floating around the Club premises wanting to play football."

The Chairman remarked that the question of the bar did not come in at all.

The Chairman then explained to the meeting that they were to de- cide which of the following three motions to adopt (1) Mr. Gold- man's proposal of raising the sub- scription from $5 to $10 and not having a junior members' section; (2) Mr. Logan's 'amendment, ap- proving of the increase with the provision that a junior members' section be formed; and (8). the original rule, Le., 810 entrance fee and $5 annual subscription.

As a majority could not be ob- tained in support of either of the first two motions, it was decided to let the original rule stand.
