R100 ESTABLISHING NEW ATLANTIC RECORD.
A PERFECT VOYAGE.
Rugby, Yesterday. Seven and three-quarter hours after leaving St. Hubert's. Air Port, Montreal, on her homeward flight, the airship R.100 passed Lover Anticosti Island at the mouth of the St. Lawrence River. The distance between Montreal, and Anticosti Island is 540 miles in a straight line, which makes the speed of the airship little under 70 miles an hour. Later a message from R.100, however, announced that the speed had been increased to 80 miles an hour.
The weather conditions are! favourable for a quick trip across the Atlantic. The Air Ministry states that the winds are westerly along the whole route. The aver- age speed of the winds at 2,000 feet is about 20 to 30 miles per hour along the western half of the route and 50 miles along the east ern half. Some decrease is prob able in this rate but, nevertheless, following winds will be strong- est in the latter part of the journey.

THREE MEN UNDER ARREST.
Providence, Kentucky,
Yesterday.
The letter begins "We are aware of the extent to which the very thought of God seems pass- ing away from the minds and hearts of many, even in nominal- ly Christian nations," but notes. however, that "emancipatione late- ly won do not yield deep or last- ing satisfactions. The heart of modern life, with all its exuber- ance of interest, is diaquietingly void of conviction." The En- cyclical Letter therefore calls 'for a fresh effort in the proclamation of the Christian doctrine.
Domestic Unity.
The letter also dwells on the responsibility of the Church to preserve "the beauty of family life, founded on the lifelong union of husband and wife," and de- clares that divorce is unnatural. "The whole subject of sex must be lifted to a pure and. clear at- mosphere."
It emphasises the vocation of parenthood; condemna racial ant- mosities; urges the Church to take the lead in the direction of world peace; and rejoices at the move- ment towards Christian unity, In- cluding the South Indian reunion scheme. It remarks.-"The Churches founded by Anglican missions in India, China, Japan leas. Anglican, though no less true and Africa might grow less and
