Budapest, July 1. The Pesti Hirlap reports the story of a windfall which has come to a pediar living in a small town in Poland. On his daily round the pedlar called at a farm-house. The son of a farmer said he had a pelt to sell for ten zloty, and, when the pediar agreed, took him into the room where his father was sitting and remarked that the pelt was that of his invalid parent The old farmer, whom the pedlar had known for many years, was starved and ill-treated by his son, and, touched by his misery, the pedlar suggested that he should leave his son's house and share his (the pedlar's) meagre existence. To this the old man gratefully agreed.

Six months later the old farmer that his brother had got newa died in America, and left him $10,000. Overjoyed at the news, the old man made a will in favour of his benefactor, the pedlar. When his son heard of this he en tered a Jawault against him, dur- Ing the course of which the old man died.
