CONCERT RELAY,

The outstanding feature of Z. B. for the coming 'W's, engagements

week is a relay of the open-air con- cert, at the Kowloon Football Club on Saturday, the Club Committee having generously assented to the cancert being broadcast.

Always an event keenly looked forward to on the Peninsula during the Summer months, the bill ar- ranged for the Club's first concert of the senson gives every prospect of continuing the success of former years and should provide those listenerz who are unable to attend the concert in person with an enjoy- able broadcast.

Many local entertainers who have previously appeared with success be fore the microphone are contribu- including the programme ting to Mrs, Fortallion. Mr. and Mra. 3eLeod, Mr. Bailey. Dick Barty

Jeeves, fr.} (with piano), Mr. Fleming, and the Hong Kong String Orchestra.

This feature will mark the first relay from the Kowloon Football Club and Z. B. W's. first broadenst of an open-air concert.

Favoured by the weather clerk though this Club has been in pre- vious open-air entertainments, pro- vision will be made for a dance pro- gramme to be broadcast from the studio should inclement weather necessitate postponement of the concert.

The relay will commence at 9.15 p.m. being preceded by a recorded concert and dance programme from the studio from 7 pim., the station closing down at the conclusion of the concert, approximately 11.30

Tientsin. Yesterday. Mr. Lenox Simpson has engaged a number of additional foreigners for the Customs to-day, including several former Customs men, while, numerous applications from retired Customs men

being received p.m. are from Shanghai.

The vexed question now is the payment of duty at both ends, and will recognise whether Shanghai the duties paid at this end, and vice versa. In any event. shippers will be the sufferers, and Mr. Lenox Simpson has specially telegraphed to Yen Hri-shan asking for instruc tions on this point.

The

new Commissioner, seems confident of his ability completely the service, and to reorganise emphasises that all the .key positions are being given to former Customs men only, with special at- tention to the examining and as- sessing departments.-Reuter.

The suggestion has been made that every police laboratory in France should have its cinema- tograph service.

Objections to America's new Tariff Bill expressed by two foreign diplomats have led to a demand by a Senator for their recall.

To-night, Mr. Harry, Ore will give another of his popular piano- forte recitals from the studio, Mrs.

MALARIA.

15 CASES IN A WEEK.

Manila, June 9. A new putbreak of malaria in Manila claiming a big number of victims in less than a week, has been reported, which, it is feared, may explode the favourite theory of the Philippine' Health service that there can be no malaria outbreak in Manila since there are no malaria vectors in the city.

The reports show that since last Thursday there have been 15 cases. reported with one death.

These

reports are distributed as follows:
