RACING.
Some "Very Happy Returns."
BIG FAVOURITES WIN.
The Sixth Extra Race Meeting. concluded on Saturday with some! first-class racing and some very excellent dividends. Returns were good in practically every race, even though fields were not on the big side..
were
The highly-fancied favourites. Royal Flush, Spearmint and Nationalist II, all won, and in their case the dividends naturally not quite so high.
Royal Flush accounted for the second race after his backers had received a bit of a fright by a bold effort by San Francisco. But class told in the end, and Mr. Heard added yet another to his
long list of victories.
In the next race Spearmint won, but did not impress unduly, and no doubt will strike more en- couraging form in future. As it was, he finished
length ahead
of Windsor Stag, after O-Moon had made a big effort, which was just a trifle too early.
Nationalist won easily in a field of three, the others belg quite out of the picture. The pony seems to improve every time out, and is undoubtedly better animal than was thought| after its first showing here.
