KOWLOON JUNIORS WIN.

Barrett opened the scure for the Navy, who led by this one goal at the interval. The Navy added an- other shortly after the resumption, but the lead was reduced by Sprout- ing. who scored from a melee in the goal-mouth, and Howard 'put the soldiers on level terms a few moments later. Barrett added two guals for the Navy before the final whistle blew, to give them the vic- tory by four goals to two.

Straight Talk from

Lord Hawke.

"Let there be no sitting on the splice." This appeal for brighter cricket in the forthcoming Test matches between Britain and Australia

was made by Lord. Hawke, president of the Yorkshire County Cricket Club, when speak- ing at a club luncheon in Leeds.

"Four days are allotted to the coming Test matches," he said,. "and I can only hope we shall sce them finished. I also hope we shall see bright cricket on both aides and may the best side win. "All I can hope is that the Testa will compensate the counties who have to give up their players by producing brighter cricket and I trust Britain will set the example. If the Tests are not finished in four days it is almost certain that we shall go back to three days."

Lord Hawke appealed to the Yorkshire players to forget first- innings points in their matches, and assured them that if they played the game in the true spirit none of them would "be carpeted" because he happened to be on the losing side.
