She suddenly returned on April 25, and brought this charge against the was taken to the woman, who Police atation where she was refused ball, this being granted in the sum of $1,000 two days later. It was bard on the woman that she should have been in prison at all.

Relied In Girl's Version

Mr. Butters submitted that they charged the woman on the ground of the girl's statements... The girl did have certain marks on her, but when examined by Dr. K. A. Uttley, he could not say whether they were bruises or scratches. Regarding the teeth, Mr. Butters pointed out that the girl's story was found to be in- consistent with that of the woman.

Mr. Marton remarked that the R.C.A. should have gone further into the case before 'refusing his client ball, as she was put into prison for two days, which was rather a serious thing for a woman.

His Worship said, that the S.C.A.. in most of these cases relied on statements made by mui taais and by witnesses for the prosecution..

The charges against the woman were completely withdrawn.

Teeth Fitted Gap. Det. Inspector Reynolds stated in evidence that at the time of the alleged murder, he was in charge of the Murder Squad. He proceeded to No. 8 Sha Po Rond and while there waiting for In- spector Vincent, he had a general look around the premises. He also gave a casual glance for finger- prints. After the body had been moved, he discovered the two teeth and four pieces of broken china. He lifted the lower lip of the dead man, and holding the teeth by the prongs he tried them on the gap in the lower jaw of the victim. The two teeth fitted the gap; and witness was quite satisfied that these were the teeth of the dead man. There [were also traces of blood on the gums, which made witness come to the conclusion that the teeth had been knocked off. prior to the fold man being gagged. .

Cross-examined by Mr. Jenkin, witness said that to a very great extent, he had had charged of the investigation.
