JEWOOD GOLF AND CORNERY CAPS

Victoria, capital of British Columbia, whose golfers enjoy their game the year round, owing to the ameliorating influence of the Japan current, held its second annual Mid-Minter Golf - Tourna- mant under the auspices of the Empress Hotel from February 17 to 28. This tournament is, an amateur handicap affair open to inth men and women competing in their own sections. The principal trophy is the E. W. Bestly Challenge Cup previously hold by T. L. 'Swan and Mrs Hew Pateroon of Victoria, although a large list of other prizes was posted. The tournament was played over the Colwood Golf and Country Club's course, which winds through a vast forest of Dangas fire, some of them 26 feet in circumference, and ancient, gnarlod caka and cedars dating from the time when Vancouver Jaland was sighted by Capt.
