'VARSITY BOXRACE.

Both Crews Have Misfortunes.

BRITAIN'S PREMIER SPORTING EVENT.

Who Will Take the Lead?

[By "No. 7.")

To-day's Boat Race, starting at 12.30 p.m., will be a battle of Cambridge's stiff and constricted but cohesive rowing against Oxford's brilliant dashing inconsistency. Cambridge are again the favourites but Oxford's superior watermanship will give them an excellent chance in rough water or with a following wind. Neither crew is of outstanding merit (in the opinion of Reuter), but a close ruce is expected. Oxford are quicker from the mark and may lead at the start. Cambridge's length rhythm is expected to enable them to gain the advantage after two miles.

Too Far Forward?. Cambridge seemed a strifle too far forward in their training before they left home waters, and a certain useusi- ness was felt by some, lest they should go stale; but this feeling has not been justified, as they dre trained to a hair Oxford have hail so many changes that it has been diflicult to Julge their fit- ness, although hope runs high, and the crew is considered to be the hat since 1921.

A Definite Advantage.

It has frequently been stated that the reason for Cambridge superiority over Oxford sport is because the Light Blues have a much larger per- centage of men playing games. It is a notable fact that in the Cambridge
