IN SEMI-FINAL.
Good Game Promised For To-day,
[By "Base Line."]
M. W. Lo, the present Champion of the Colony, defeated H. D. Rumjahn yesterday at the H.K.C.C. in a five set match. This win places Lo in the semi- final where he will meet E. C. Fincher for right of entry into the Final.
In the two first sets Lo carried all before him, outdriving and outposition- ing "11. D." with ease. The next two sets found Lo tiring, and he lost both to his more agile opponent. Rumjahn at last found his length and kept Lo on the base line, whilst he found his way to the net, where he won many points After the fourth after good rallies.
The 'Senior League Axture, the Club versus the Somersets, which was fixed for last Wednesday has I been re-arranged for to-morrow. delved into detail of the prospects of this game last Tuesday so there is no need to repeat, but after the "Sets" gruelling struggle with the 'Navy in the Senior Shield final last :Saturday it is to be hoped that they are not leg weary and lose a grip on their game to-morrow. I cannot

Assuming that the soldiers are fighting it they should make no mistake about the ownership of the points.

many spectators were dubious as to whether the set would be concluded.
M. W. Lo, however, put all he knew into the game and the set and match were won just in time.

two on points with Chinese "A" games in hund the Stadium team cannot afford to lose a point to keep them in the championship race, for their goal average compares un. the those of favourably with K.O.S.B. and the Navy. At the Stadium last January the home side snatched both points by the only goal scored so it is only to be ex posted for South China "A" to be out for the same result. I am in- clined to favour a goal-less draw or South China putting paid to their opponents' championship hopes by scoring once.

sure to watch. He found his length aimgat Immediately and with a powerful backhand drive, he was able to pass Rumjahn whenever he went up to the
net..
The second set was a repetition of the first. Lo, maintaining his accuracy throughout, took the set at G-1.
The third set saw, a vast improve- ment in "H. D.'s" play. He seemed to liven up and put more power into his shots. He led at 4-1. Then Lo took a game, hat Rumajahn took the next two games to give him set at 6-2.
The fourth set was a repetition of the third, except that Lo tried hard to keep Rumjahn the base line, but thle was of no avail against the younger player who found his way there, and, by good placing, took the set at 8-3 after B-all had been called.
The final set proved not quite up to Club expectations. "H.D.'" agility and youth were expected to triumph over the stamina and court craft of the champlon. No one could have made s higger mistake, for Lo completely dominated the game and won comfort. ably at 6-2.

Mr. MacDonald said that thọ pledge would mean that France and Great Britain or Germany and Britain could not even exchange views in regard to the meaning of the article without first consulting the Council of the League.
