ESTABLISHED

HONG KONG,

MUTINY OF FRENCH INFANTRY.

OFFICERS SCORNED IN BARRACK ROOM DITTIES.

BARRACADED IN TAVERN.

Paris, Yesterday.

An official report is now published of the mutiny at the disciplinary in- fantry base on the Island of Oleron, off Rochefort on March 20,

news of which was hushed up at the time. The report says that the mutineers assembled in a Tavern, barricaded the doors, smashed the furniture, and sang barrack room ditties in which the off jcers were insulted. The officers, in order to avoid bloodshed, had the place surrounded and invited the re calcitrants to surrender. Most of them did so, but the ring leaders held out for three days. Some ring leaders were ex Naval men who were already Involved in the mutiny at Calvi. The | ropart denies the rumour that the re- volt was due to lack of food or over- work.-Reuter,
