And she had an Inspiration. She used all the influence for good that she possessed, and persunded well. off parents to let their little girla make portegees of the little or. phans.
Each little orphan had a little protectress of about her own age,
who would write to her regularly, go to see her sometimes if possible, and would send her presents and help her in every way.
The orphans would have been cared for in any case, but the good that it did to the better-off children was immeasurable.

Bupply ng people with knowledge as to what to do with it. For, to earn money is not so difficult as to
spent it.
I differentiate, of course, between apending it and wasting it.
Still greater are the riska of giving money to young people with out even demanding that they earn it, and then letting them squander It.
I am not particularly interested
in what becomes of their money for its own sake, but it seems to me immoral to have the means to be happy and not to extract the happiness that is there waiting to be snatched.
How can we force money to make us happy? This, as I see it, is the Important question.
I remember that, when I was 17 my father, who was Archdeacon of Maidstone, told me that I was to have an allowance, and that I was to spend it as I saw fit, without question or instruction from any- body.
I can still recall the thrill of it, although the allowance was only £20 a year. A sense of wealth and power almost overwhelmed me. I felt suddenly that I was a grown woman, with private and personal Interests and means, but a respon- sible being too, with cares ou my shoulders.
I still remember how I rejoiced In the tile frocks that I used to make from materials bought with my own funds and the excitement and anxiety that for days preceded my visit to the local tailor to order my,winter coat and skirt.
And I think that was a normal attitude for a young girl, and thus
I am not quite so shocked, perhaps as people think I should be, when I see young girls of to-day spend rather recklessly on their clothes and pleasures.
In my own case, there was an other side to my life, for my dear
parents were singularly unselfish people, and I had learned, not from an exhortation on their part bat Just from, watching them, that their view of money was that it could never be a personal posses sion, but belonged rather where it would do the most good;"
Even at 177 saw that they would
have remained relatively poor had
they had a million. And, of course,
I began to ask myself why, con sidering that they kept so little for themselves, they were so happy.
And the thing that struck me most was the fact that they really like money just as my husband docs--and yet they gave it away with both hands
Little by little I came to under- stand that they had pierced the secret of money the secret that refuses to reveal itself to so many. They loved what it could do and not what it could bay!

the power of money. I was an "associate", and I had an orphan that I used to call "my little girl," which amused my parents, since was about 12, but I learned to con- sider the spending of money in re, lation to her. I was given a cer- tain sum that had to cover any thing that I wished to do for her throughout the year.
Thus I was compelled, even at
formerly commissioned officers.
The new picture is a vivid murder mystery with a huge cast. Dorothy Sebastian and Natalie Moorhead play the feminine roles, and Claude Fleming is the Scotland Yard detec- tive who solves the mystery.
