Canton, Saturday, Mr. R. Vaughan Fowler and his assistant, Mr. Dunn, of the Far East Aviation Co., Hong Kong, who arrived this morning, called upon Colonel Yang Keung-yce, the pre- sent head of the Aviation Bureau, for the settlement of an important contract
for
aoroplanes and materials.
Mr. Fowler is leaving Hong Kong next Wednesday for the North on his way to Europe, via Siberia, and will return to the East in May.

A somewhat important position in the Kwangsi province and in these few years it has suffered more from fires, droughts and other calamities than other cities. Recently, owing to a diver
gence of views between the au thorities of the
Kwangtung and
markets and
the Kwangsi provinces, war broke out along the frontiers of these two provinces and the war zone was confined to the frontiers only. Unexpectedly, on March 8, nero- planes from the Kwangtung army came to Lauchow, which is not within the war zone, and dropped bombs on crowded streets such as the Fook Wing Tsz and Lam Kiu, etc. More than ten cizilian houses were destroy- ed and the casualties among the inhabitants numbered several tens, most of whom were Cantonese merchants who resided in that city.

between nations, the principle of humanity would al ways be upheld, and it is difficult to understand why, in a civil war, the innocents should be sacrificed. It is most unfortunate that Lau chow, which has already suffered ao much, should have this calam. ity Indicted on it. We earnestly request the various organisations in the different provinces to per- suade the military and civil au thorities of Canton to order the Aviation Force not to destroy any more centres of business and re- sidence in the Kwangsi province. and for this favour we shall be grateful.
