Shields Semi-Final Prospects To-Morrow
[By "Rosmer"] Was it by sheer bad luck or by not taking a steadier aim that brought about Bewley Bull's failure with that spot kick last Saturday? It is realised that Fou Ka-ping is a, difficult keeper to beat but as he excels in dealing with high shots why put them there? Well, the damage is done anl damage it is too for that failure has brought in its wake loss of a precious point and possibly the Championship.
The "Sets" have only visited Caroline Hill once and on that oc casion they were beaten by the Navy by the only goal scored.
been South China have only beaten on their own ground twice this season, the Navy by three clear goals and the K.O.S.B. by two, so u pretty stiff task confronts them on the return match on April 19.
and Ewo have each been given two, the losses being incurred by the R.. six, Chinese "B" four and R.A.M.C. two.

Chinese "B" have had an easy journey in the competition, defeated Ewo one nil in the second round Last Saturday South China "A" after a bye while the "Sets" had trounced the "Medicals" to the tune four gruelling games with the Navy of seven goala to one. On the Club ground the leung and Ip Koon-ning scoring one "Seta" enjoyed a runaway victory each. The R.A.M.C.'s one and only over the Club to the tune of five without response while Chinese "B" came from Innson.
With a player short the "Saints"shared the points with the same side put up a good fight although beaten in a goal-less draw. The "Seis" hy South China "B" by four clear get my vote. goals.
As was expected the Club and Chinese "B" shared the points in a goal-less draw. With both sets of forwards poor marksmen it was a fitting result.
The Somersets had a shock in encounter with Eastern, a their penalty goal carrying the points in their favour. Denmead early in the second half missed an open goal by kicking wildly over the bar instead of taking a steady aim. Eastern were responsible for the evenly con- tested display and had the "Sets" put a little more sting into their final efforts more goals would have been scored.
Kowloon have had a convincing passage through by dismissing Chi- nese "A" and the "Gunners" by four clear goals goals to two and two respectively while Eastern disposed of the Club by two without response, Eastern have visited Caroline Hill and met with defeat by South China "A" whereas Kowloon are strangers to that ground this season.
Kowloon will have to do better than in their league fixture if they have designa on qualifying for the Final, and I am of the opinion that the odd goal will come from them after a keen tuasle.

In their League on the Caroline

Ground advantage does not ap- pear to come into this argument as both sides have been auccessful in their visits

The Somersets and Kowloon will take the field at Caroline Hill in the other Semi-Final tie. Kowloon hold a splendid record, their name ap pearing on the Shield for 1928, 1925, 1926 and 1928 while the "Seta" are having their first taste of this competition.

The "Sets" defeated the Cotton and Eastman to miss scoring apportunities, which meant that the R.A. left the field the lucky victors as Kowicon fully deserved a point for their plucky display.
Of the four Junior games schedul. ed for to-morrow I predict the Navy, South China "A", South China "B" and R.A. being returned the winners over the University, St. Joseph's, Ewo and the Club res- pectively.
