DANGEROUS CHEMICALS

The manager of the Kwong Man Leong fireworks factory of Kowloon City was at the Kowloon Magistracy this morning fined $15 for using potas- sium chlorate for the manufacture of

crackers.

Inspector Shaftain prosecuted, while Mr. M. K. Lo appeared for the defen dant.

The prosecutor said that, in 1031, the Government, after a very serious accident, stopped the use of this dan gerous chemical, but he (the Inspector) would make representations for an amendment of that rule, as then the Government must only have

been thinking of and considering local con- ditions and not the export of crackers.
