It has long been recognised that in the ideal radio receiver all sup- plles of electrielty, both for high tension and low tension, should be derived from the electric light

mains.

.Because the dry 11.T. battery was indoubtedly the least satisfactory element in radio equipment, the question of elminating the H.T. battery was the first to be tackled and for some years past listeners have been able to purchase battery eliminators or supply units for providing H.T. current for radio receivers from direct or alternating current electric light mains.
