Chinese Assailants from Hong Kong

Bandjermasin, Jan. 13.

A band of Chinese miners, armed with knives, attacked three Dutch mine

overseen, named Von Scherndel. Schillings and Voltmann, —at a coal-mine at Samarinda.

The two first named men were seriously wounded in the stomach. and died shortly afterwards, while Voltmann was wounded in the head. Forty-six Chinese have been ar- rested.

They arrived at the coal-mine from Hong Kong two days ago.

Their dissatisfaction was appear- ently caused by alleged false pro- mises made when they signed the contracts at Hong Kong.-Straits

RACING

(Continued from Page 1.)

Samaritan is a good plek if he is kept for this event instead of being sent out earlier.

The Ptarmigan is not of much 1180 in this feld therefore I should advise that he be left alone.
