GREAT GATHERING OF FRIENDS AND ADMIRERS

Hong Kong bude final farewell to His Excellency the Governor, Sir Cecil Clementi, K.C.M.G., this morning. Full honours were shown and the feeling of goodwill animating the Hong Kong Gov- ernment and the community in general was amply demonstrated. European and Chinese members of the Council. Justices of the Peace, business men and members of the Civil Service, as well as representatives of His Majesty's Forces and the Royal Navy turned out en bloc to say "Good-bye."

Queen's Pier was in gola attire. Flags, Junting and numerous pots of greenery were all worked into the scheme of decoration. Sailors and soldiers lined the streets, and members of the Motor Cycle Section of the Volunteer Corps escorted His Excellency, Sir Cecil Clementi, Lady Clementi, and their daughter to the Pier. A salute of 17 guns was fired both by the Navy and the Army as the launch Britannia, with His Excellency and family on board, steamed out to the P. & O. 5.8. Mantua. Warships in port were "dressed."
