JUDGMENT IN LIVERPOOL TEST CASES

London. Lord Merrivale delivered Judgment in the Admiralty Court, finding that seamen were entitled to two months' wages in the actions brought by Joseph Murray and Joseph Comerford against the Eller mann Hall Line and the White Star Line in respect of the loss of the Croxteth Hall and the Celtic.

His Lordship said the actions were to test the title of the seamen to two months' wages from the date of the wreck or discharge under the new Merchant Shipping (International Labour Conventions) Act of four years ago, the previous law being embodied in the Olympic judgment of 1013, where it was laid down that, reading together Sections 158 and 182 of the Act of 1904, the wrecked mariner with a discharge other than that of his agreement was not entitled to bia statutory month's wages, as his wages ecased on tho date of discharge or of the wreck.
