. Marton led all the deserves sympathy. Shewan rose to the occasion at the critical moment, playing, at his best--with- out any falling off in Marton's form and pulled the game out of the fire. Marton's lead never exceeded three holes. He was two up after the first nine holes in the morning; again two up at the end of the first round; still two up at the turn in the afternoon; and two up at the 32nd, Doing each hole in one under bogey, Shewan won the 33rd and 34th to become all square, took the lead for the first time at the 35th and won by two up at the 36th.
