Constantinople, Yesterday. The recommendation that the Turkish woman should wear only home made materiala and adorn herself with mountain flowers from Anatolia was made at the National Assembly at Angora by Ismet Pasha, the Premier. He exhorted the Nation to back up the Cabinet's efforts to promote national economy with a view to helping to revalorise the Turkish currency, which recent- My had considerably depreciated. He emphasised that this did not in- volve the boycott of foreign goods. and added that the first duty of the forthcoming State bank would be to assist the stabilisation of the Turkish currency on a gold basis. The Assembly unanimously voted confidence in the Prime Minister.- Reuter.

COLONY'S RAINFALL FIGURES
Last month was generally cooler than is usual for November. There was an average amount of cloudiness and sunshine and the rainfall was short of normal.
The lowest temperature recorded in the returns of the Royal Obser- vatory, Kowloon, was 65 degrees on the 12th. On the 11th, the minimum reading wag 67.1 but max!-
mum
was only 66.5, which was the lowest "maximum" for the month. The highest temperature of the month was 79.5 on the 2nd.
There were 189.7 hours of sun- shine during the month, against an average of 186.4, there being four days on which none was recorded. The average percentage of humidi- ty was 53, which is exactly the same as the average normal.

Colombo, Yesterday. The Legislative Council by 19 voten to 17, has accepted the pro- posed constitutional reforms. The vote la surprising, as it was expected the measure would be rejected. The reforms, contained In Lord Donoughmore's scheme issued in 1928, and amended by Lord Passfield, provide for a gov- ernment by committees, a single State Council of eighty members, and universal suffrage at twenty- one years of age.-Reuter.
