Canton, Yesterday,
The result of the semi-final round of the Golf Championship at Tung- shan was rather a surprise. J. T. Smith beat W. Gilman by 8 and 6. as was expected; but the defeat of J. M. Walker by L. H. Ruffin 2 and 1 was unforseen.
The final should be interesting. It will be played off on Sunday, 24th inst. over 36 holes, J. T. Smith, who is a 5 handicap man, should
win win, though Ruffin's
over that he will Walker might mean continue to play good golf and beat Smith,
