LEARNING LIFE AT SCHOOL

Mr. Kipling's Advice To Boys

"BURNING ONE'S OWN SMOKE

??

Mr. Kudyard Kipling made an inspiring speech to boys when he opened Filmer Court, Sturry, as a school un October 8.

The Junior King's School, Canterbury, has been transferred to this building, which, on Lord Milner's death, was presented by Lady Milner to the Governors of the King's School.

Addressing the boys, Mr. Kipling

suit;

"I shall not be telling you much that you do not know. Indeed, my only advantage over you is that you have not yet the words In which to express your knowledge, and-you are not allowed to contradict me.

"I am sure you have been told many times that your school gives you in advance and in miniature almost every problein and situation that you may be called upon to meet later. Strange as it may seem, it is true, because (perhaps you have not been told this), very dew men are more than sixteen years old when it comes to a pinch.
