Shanghai, Kobe and Yoko- hami.
Upon arrival Mr. Everst: comment- ed on the good cargo moveinent now evident throughout the Far East. He said that following two suck months, demand for bottoms began to Increnae te such an extent that all ships for which his company are agents have been booked in advance. HONG KONG TIDE
The tide-table given below has been obtained by aid of the Tide-pre- dieting Machine, which includes 40 components for the better prediction of tides, from the result of the analysis of the tdat observations, taken at the Kowloon tidal observa. tory under the direction of Dr. Doberck during the years 1887, 1888 and 1889.
A report received by the Depart ment of Overseas-Trade from the Britlah Consul-General at Hamburg of traffic through the
Kiel Canal during February was the smallest on record, the decrease being again attributable to the severe fee conditions through- out the month. The number of ves sels was 283 only, of which 266 were registered as sen-going steamers ag. gregating 175,237 tons net, 215 were cargo and passenger vessels aggre- gating 171,000 tons, 47 tugs of 3,007
The times of high and low-water tons, fahing steamers of 231 tons, must not be considered to coincide 5 aalling vessels of 434 tons, 4 light with the times of Black-water and ers and burges of 2,F28 tons, and 8 change of current, the two phenomena naval and
service veszela of 2,878 being quité distinct. tong.
