Completion by the Ford Motor Company of the 2,000,000th Model: "A" automobile has re-emphasized not only the fact that the Ford plants are now the busiest in their history, but has served alan dis- close the speed with which the Model A car won world-wide accep tance.

The first million Model A Forda were built between October 20, 1927, and February 4, 1929, a period, more than 15 months during which the company gradually forged ahead with its production rate and studied and adopted new methods) by which greater efficiency and pre- cision could be given to automobile manufacturing.

The second million Model A's were produced in less than Bix months. The rate at which the Ford Motor Company is now build- ing automobiles Is indicated by the completion of 1,065,630 units in the first

six months of the present calendar year, of which 919,549 were manufactured in the United States.

One of the recent chapters in the history of the new Ford has been the manner in which it has demon- strated its performance to the various foreign countries. Quickly recognized at home as a car that gave a new standard of speed, com- fort and sturdiness in the low price automobile field, the Model A Ford hus now recorded a series of extra- ordinary triumpha abroad, many of which brought into competition a| large number of cars of both American and European manufac- ture and design.

Great Britain witnessed an un- usual automobile demonstration when the Mode! A Ford reached; the summit of the famous peak of the Scottish Highlands, Ben Nevis, after climbing rock strewn trails which, according to A Glaskow newspaper account, could be described as a road "only by extra- vagant courtesy." Only once be fore had the ascent of the highest mountain of Great Britain been made by a motor car.
