DISARMAMENT

THE CHINA MAIL,

JAPAN'S ATTITUDE TO CRUISER PARITY

UNDESIRABLE OUTCOME

Tokyo, Saturday.

While the vernacular Press asserts that Admiral Takarabe has already been selected as head of the Japanese delegation to the Disarmament Con- ference, officials arm that, pending, receipt of a formal invitation, no deci-; sion will be made, although it is ad nitted that Mr. Matsudaira will be the second delegate if the conference is held in Londaa.

In the meantime in well-informed. circles it is averred that the Govern- ment, through its Ambassadors in Lon- don and Washington, has expressed the belief to Great Britain and America that other nations will be faced to ex pant instead of reducing their fleets if the tentatively fixed Anglo-American cruiser parity is allowed to stand.

It is understood that Japan has in- timated its earnest desire that the two countries should agree to lower the level sufficiently to prevent auch an un- desirable outerme.-Router.
