Mrs. Thelma Holland, of Los Angeles, has been sentenced to five years in pri- son for the possession of a liquor still. Due to her delicate condition, as sn expectant mother, the execution of the sentence has been delayed to permit the child to be born outside the prison. Rep.

The Shih Cath University, on Klangwan-road, Shanghai, was the scene of a largely attended farewell party given recently by the staff of the Shanghai Provisional Court in honour of Dr. Ho Shirtseng, former President of the Court, who resigned. It wis kived that Dr. Ho l shortly going abroad to pursue further studies of law and education Dr. John C. H. Wu, successor to Dr. Ho, presided on behalf of the hosts, who included all the Judges and other members of the Court. Both the President and his

successor of the Provisional Court are seen seated in the centre of the front row(Chung Hwa Studio).
