LANDS NEAR TOKYO

Tokyo, Yesterday.

The "Graf Zeppelia" was sighted at Kasumigeura at 3.50 p.m.; and arrived over Tokyo at 4.35.

At Kasumigaura

A light summer haze made the I visibility poor, but full-throated "Bancais" arose from the waiting crowds when finally the giant Zeppelin was sighted in the distance, with the sun glinting on ita silvery sides.

Among the crowd, which was estiin ated as at least 16,000, were the Minis-! Lers of War, Navy, and Commurica- tions, and the German Ambassador while several hundred bluejackets were busy preparing to assist the airship's Landing.

As soon as she was sighted four naval planes and the "Europa," in- which Baron Huenefeld flew to Japan from Germany last year, soared up- wards to greet the great leviathan, which three other aircraft was already

| accompanying.

Flying at a height of 300 metres, the Zeppelin loomed nearer, its appearance directly overhead at 4.18 p.m. evoking a fresh outburst of cheering and way- ing handkerchiefs, while the naval

Over the Capital

At 4.35 p.m. siren blasts announced that the Zeppelin had been sighted

over Tokyo.

A crowd of office workers and others famediately swarmed into the streets, and clambered on roofs, or

took up whatever points of vantage seemed

best

Ten minutes later the great airship, with its escort of eight planes, hover. ing around midget-like in eontrast, ap- peared over the central portion of the city. The gondola's inscription, "Graf Zeppelin," was clearly visible.

No cheering was heard, but the crowds clapped their hands and waved

A Free Ticket Continuing, Lillius said that he had travelled on the N.Y.K. ships with a free passenger's ticket because he was on publicity work and a journalist, and asked the Magistrate to have the case ended by September 1, as that was his ! sailing date.
