June 28 was an anniversary for Babe Ruth, for he clouted the fiye hundredth homer of his big league career in Philadelphia, the fourteenth of the current season. Of course, later in the day he hit his fifteenth, and the following day his sixteenth, but that's only to. be expected of him. If he keeps up at this rate he may even hit the four-figure mark.

The populace of the city are getting to work as best they can without the usual assistance of street cars since the general strike which has tied up the lines. Governor Long of Louisians refused to furnish militia to the city in spite of argent uppeals and the inability of the local police to handle the situation.
