LORD LLOYD

RESIGNS HIGH COMMISSIONER- SHIP OF EGYPT

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

London, Yesterday. Mr. A. Henderson (Secretary for Foreign Affairs) announced in the House of Commons to-day that Lord Lloyd, High Commis sioner of Egypt, had resigned. Mr. Henderson said he had an in- terview yesterday with Lord Lloyd, during which he handed him his resignation, which the Government had accepted.

But if I have to state reasons I must refer to the intimation to Lord Lloyd, be fore he left Egypt, which was based on my reading of the atti- tude he had taken towards the policy of the late Government."

Mr. Henderson added that the telegram which he sent to Lord Lloyd was of such a character that he thought most people would
