In-electing a title for this ar- ticle, writes the Ranee of Sarawak in the "Sunday Despatch," I am not referring to the wife who, having some business or profes- sion, is ambitious to achieve fame and success on her own account. She presents peculiar problems which no doubt time will help to Aolve.

My concern is rather with the wife who is feverishly ambitious for her husband, either for his own sake or because she wishes to bask in the reflected glory. Few can have failed to meet her. She is a distinct and easily re- cognisable type.

If a man earnestly desires the limelight and it is a desire shar- ed by his wife, who helps him by every means in her power, and if he attains the position he covets, it is unlikely that he will feel any qualms about the possession of an ambitious wife.
