Mrs. Willic James, whose death is announced in the Home' papers was for many years one of the most noted hostesses in Society:

She was a most charming wo- man-capable, well-informed, and a clever conversationalist.. Many notable gatherings took place at West Dean Park, her place in Sussex, invitations to the delightful parties she gave being much sought after.

Mrs. Willie James was a daugh- ter of the late Sir Charles Stewart! Forbes, fourth Baronet. She mar- ried in 1889 Mr. Wm. Dodge James, C.V.O., who died in 1912. In the. following year she married Lieut. Colonel John Chaytor Brinton, C.V.O., D.S.O., formerly of the 2nd; Life Guards, from whom she obtain- ad à divorce in 1927, She then re- 'sumed her former name of James.
