Romance on Tennis Courts

JIN

The name of Alain C. Gerbault, left, famous tennis player, who disappeared from courts five years ago, in which time he has remained away from France, has often been linked with that of Suzanne Leng- len's, right, and rumours have it that the self-imposed exile was on account of some disturbing clement in his relationship with her. Now that he has reappeared, friends of both are eagerly watching developments of the alleged romance.

DT ECKENER ASKE PERMISSION, TO RESCROSS FRANCE

The above map graphically depicts the gallant fight against elements which the Graf Zeppelin made after four of her five engines were crippled while flying over Spain en route to the United States. After two engines failed Dr. Hugo Eckner ordered the ship to turn about and head for home. Two more went dead on the way and with only one working the eighteen passengers and crew of the giant airship found themselves drifting helplessly over France toward the Mediterranean. Only the tremendous efforts and skill of Dr. Eckner saved a catastrophe when the Graf finally was fanded at Cuers, France. New motors were rushed to replace the damaged ones and the Graf pro- ceeded to Friedrichshafen. It is believed that the flight to the United States will be tried again after the repairs are made.

pleted without incident when the failure of two motors forced a return. The crippled ship slowly made her way over France and near Lyons, shown top, encountered high head winds which threatened to blow her over the Mediterranean At the right is shown the tail fins of the Graf and the damage done by the storm during her first trip across the Atlantic.
