VISIT TO SCOTLAND.-The Duke of York, as Lord High Com- missioner for the Church of Scotland; opened the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in Edinburgh. He is seen with the Duchess driving to the Cathedral.(Sport and Gen- eral).

THE DOGS' DAY-The annual dog-kennel sports at the Bell Mead kennels at Haslemere. Surrey, owned by Miss J. Trefusis Forbes, proved the remarkable intelligence of canine breeds, the dogs themselves thoroughly enjoying the sports as well as the kennel maids and onlookers. Photo shows the final of the flat race in which a fox terrier, a cocker spaniel, a bassett hound and a dandy dinmont terrier participated.. The basset hound proved the winner as may be seen from picture (Sport and General).

At STAMFORD BRIDGE. At the meeting between Achilles Club (England) and the Berliner and Deutscher Clubs. (Ger- many), the former winning by 61 points to 41-Herr. Bertz (Germany), second in the high jump-(Sport and General).

ONE OF THE FINEST TOURNAMENTS IN THE WORLD, The Royal Tournament at Olympia, London, which opened on May 28, 1929. Not only did the Military and the Royal. Navy participate in this event, but the Royal Air Force also combined in giving a magnificent display. Here is a scene which might well be called "Like Human Flies" It is a thrilling window ladder and rope-climbing display by men from Portsmouth.– (Sport and Generál);
