GIGANTIC IMPROVEMENT
SCHEME
Plans for the new port of Boulogne- sur-Mer have been drawn up. Accord ing to the "Echo de Paris," contracts have already been signed for the work, and only the sanction of the authori ties is awated,
A gigantic scheme has been evolved, which will enable even trans-Atlantic ners to deck with ease, instead of, as at present, being only accessible by tender in the roada. The Carrot breakwater, over a mile and a half in length is now being extended by 200 yards.
This protects the roads from the south-west storms, but there is no corresponding protection from easterly and northerly gales.
