"THIS WATER BUSINESS"

Tricks With Tins at the Fountains

Before Mr. E. W. Hamilton, at the Central Magistracy, this morn- ing, a Chinese was charged with with 12 obstruction causing an water tina at a water fountain in Queen's-road West.

Divisional Inspector Blor told the Magistrate that with all those buckets the accused did not give a chance to anybody else

to draw

water.

Addressing the accused, his Wor- ship said: You must play the game in this water business..

Accused said that he went to the fountain with two other fokis, each with four buckets. After a long wait, his two fokis went off to get some tea and he was merely looking after their buckets.

His Worship: I know, but it upsets everybody there.

Inspector Bloor said that prior to the accused's arrest, the Police had received several complaints of such tricks at the fountains,

Accused was ordered to pay a fine of $5 or go to jail for seven days with hard labour.
