Youngest President. At 30 years of age Robert Maynard Hutchins, dean of the Yale Law School, has heen appointed president of the Uni versity of Chicago.. When he takes office on July 1 Hutchins will be the youngest head of a major university in the United States.

Women's Endurance Record.--Viola Gentry at Roosevelt Field, Long Island, with her Arrow aport 'plane, equipped with a 60-horsepower motor, in which she will soon attempt to better the existing sol endurance Hight record for women, now held by Elinor Smith, of 26 hours and 21 minutes.

Met Tleath im Rescue.--Keith Anderson (above) set out in search of the Southern Cross which was last but he in the wilds of Australia never came, back. Circling low over Tanimi Desert in the heart of the North Australia rescuers sighted the flyer's body and dispatched a party to bring it in.

Coolidge dam under construc- tion on the Gila River, near Douglas, Arizona, which, when completed, will have cost the U.S. Gov. ernment a total of $6,500,000.
