LINERS AT CARDIFF
CALL BY THE C.P.S.S. "MONTROSE"
it was anticipated that nearly 300 passengers would embark at Cardiff on the Canadian Pacific "Montrose" for St. John, N.B., and is felt to be an encouraging start, which gives every promise that Cardiff will continue to be a port of call for some of the Atlantic liners.
The "Montrose," which is very well- known in the Canadian passenger trade, was built in 1822, and is 16,400 tons, and 161⁄2 knote speed. Her call at Cardiff will be the first occasion on which a Canadian Pacific passenger Jiner of this type has broken away from the regular sailings from Southampton, Liverpool and Glasgow.
Among the passengers embarking at Cardiff were Sir George Bury, who, until recently, was one of the vice-pre-
