The entire Faculty of the Uni- versity of Des Moines has been dismissed. apparently owing to their non-agreement with the fun- damental views of the Baptist Bible Union, which recently took charge of the University. But the Faculty is accorded the privilege of applying for reinstatement in June.

EMPLOYMENT OF JUVENILES IN BRITAIN

BIRTH RATE DECLINE

London, Yesterday. The Ministry of Labour, in a White Paper, discusses the effect of the employment of juveniles in the next six years, resulting from gen- eral decline in the birth rate, which occurred during the war period. It will gradually reduce the supply of juvenile labour in Britain from now onwards till about 1940. The lowest ebb will be reached at various points between 1931 and 1933, the. figures for the latter year being nearly 20 per cent. below those of 1927. A Chinese youth, student of one of the vernacular schools on the' mainland, who was charged with rid- ing on the wrong side of Salisbury- road, on Saturday, said that he had ridden towards the Kowloon Ferry Wharf, on the road used by the motor buses and was unaware of the fact that only buses could use that road.

It was explained by the prosecu- tion that the accused had approach- ed the ferry wharf on the left side of the ricsha stand, instead of using that part of the road on the right hand side which all other traffic, with the exception of motor buses, was permitted to use.
