WORLD'S "FLYWEIGHT

THE CHINA MAIL,

UNSATISFACTORY FIGHT

Paris, Yesterday.

In the return fifteen rounds contest for the world's flyweight championship Genaro beat Pladner, who was disqualified in the fifth round.

It was one of the most unsatia- factory fights for the world title in recent years."

Genaro attacked from the first, and his spoiling tactics effectively kept the fight at close quarters, where Pladner did not shine. Pladner was sluggish and unentar- prising..

The first four rounds were un- eventful.

Genaro opened the fifth with one to the right jaw. Pladner countered and floored Genaro with a beautiful right upper cut. Genaro rose at tho count of nine, but Pladner, whether over-anxious to finish off the Amer 50 54 30 lean, or suffered a lapse of 70. 71 33 judgment, shot palpably low with a 64 67 36right hook, greatly paining his op- 69 76 33 ponent, who was counted out.

JOCKEY CLUB

EFFECT OF THE DEATH OF -NOMINATORS

QUESTION OF FORFEITS

London, Yesterday.

The annual financial, meeting of the Jockey Club at Newmarket passed a motion by which from May 9, 1929, nominations for, the races will not be void on the death of a nominator.

The alteration in the rules is a sequel to a friendly action brought by Mr. Edgar Wallace (the well- known novelist and playwright). against the Jockey Club which ea tablished that forfeits can be re covered.

There have been many instances of famous horses having been pre- vented from competing in important races owing to the deaths of their winner nominators. The Derby "Call Boy" is a case in point, among races he was prevented from com- St. Leger.- poting in being the Router.

full of exciting passages, the Navy may, if they accept their chances, just pull it off. I should not be surprised to see the teams play extra time. The Borderers are more dangerous in front of goal than the Navy, but the Navy side have my fancy as at present they are very strong for a Second Divi- sion team in all positions.

The Senior Shield final pro- mises to be one of the most at- tractive finals of many years. Kowloon, in virtue of their won- derful local record in the Shield, start warm favourites and are quietly confident. South China will be difficult to keep out, and I expect to see several goals in this match.

Both teams have clever for- wards; at half, I think Howloon

have the pall; and there's not mach advantage either way at full back and goal, each side possess ing brilliant exponents. I think Pau and Angus are going to have a warm time in a match which should provide the spectaters with many thrills.

Kowloon may win through their half-backs who, if they can hold South China's clever forwards, will do good work.
