EUROPEAN FINED FOR NEGLIGENT DRIVING
Mr. G. R. Payne, of No. 6, East. Point Terrace, was yesterday sum- moned before Major C. Wilson, O.B.E., at the, Central Magistracy, for negligent driving and failing to produce his licence when required to da so by a traffic policeman.
Traffic Sergeant Brown said that Mr. Payne drove his motor cycle along Queen's-road East at 30 miles per hour at 1.30 p.m., on March 16. Defendant did not slacken his speed or sound his born when he turned into Arsenal-street. Witness put up his hand to stop him but Mr. Payne paid no heed. He then chased him and finally caught up with him on the new road on the Praya East re-
clamation.

Peking. Yesterday.
The China International Famine Relief Commission reports the ar- rival of 600 tons of seed grain, the gift of General Chang Ilsuch- lang of Manchuria. It is valued at $50,000. Most of it is being transhipped to Suaiyuan, in North Shansi.
During the past five days the China International Famine Relief Commission has received nearly 2,000 tons of grain as against 1,200 tons during the preceding few months. Router.
