It is learned that Tang Seng-chi (see firet cable in this report and footnote) left Tientsin on March 17 for Tangshan, where two divi- sions of the 4th Army Group which belonged to Tang Seng-chi before they were taken over by Pei Chung- hsi, quietly renewed their allegi- ance to Tang Seng-chi.

The "North China Standard" states that Mr. S. G. Beare, private secretary to Sir Miles Lampson, British Minister to China, has re- ceived notification of his transfer to the Shanghai Consulate. He has completed a two-year tour of duty in Peking. Mr. and Mrs. Beare have a host of friends in sports and music circles in Peking. Mr. Beare has played a sturdy atick on the hockey field and Mrs., Beare's sweet soprano voice has been heard to advantage at many of the concerts.
Mr. and Mrs. E. E. II. Beck bave arrived in Kuala Lumpur, Mr. Beck will act as Commandant Police Depot, when Mr. E-Bagot goes on leave.
