RACING DETAILS
In the opening event, the Foo- chow Cap (two miles)-the longest race in the Jockey Club calendar -Mr. Dunbar scored another vic. tory with Coos Bay, an odds on favourite, which finished ahead of Mr. Ho Kom-tong's Town Hall. Yesterday's opening event was won by Mr. Ho and thereby augured well for the Derby: Did the first race to-day presage the stable order in the Champions?
On the whole, backers had a better day yesterday than on Mon- day with ponies running more con- sistently and according to form, with fewer surprises.
Miss Jean Mackie, the daughter of Mr. C. G. S. Mackie. the Clerk of the Course has been deputed to present the Ladies' Purse to the winning Jockey in the third race.
His Excellency the Governor, Sir Cecil Clementi, arrived at 12.20, ac- companied by Capt. Whyte, A.D.C., and was met by Mr. H. P. White,
