CHAMPIONSHIP AND MENAGERIE RACES

SATURDAY'S RESULTS

On Saturday afternoon the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club held a re- sail of the first Championship race for racing yachts in the One De- aign and Gael, and the Heyward Heys Classes.

Twelve yachts took part in the

race, Ave in the former class and seven, in the latter, and with

favourable weather conditions, a fine afterndon's sail was enjoyed.

The course was as follows:-

Lyemoon Beacon (P), Cust Rock

Buoy (S), Mark on Line (P), Channel Rocka (S). Distance 8.8 miles.

GOOD LEAGUE CONTESTS

The two Senior Shield matches. and also the matches in the Junior Division Shield, went very much as anticipated, although the Royal Navy sprang a surprise by defeating the Borderers.

RECREIO v. HONG KONG CLUB

This match was played at King's Park before a huge crowd of spectators, who were provided with first class and very thrilling football. Extra time had to be played to force a result and the Recreio added, two goals to their score during this period,

There was hardly anything to choose between the two teams, but Recreio put every ounce of energy into their efforts during the extra time and deserved to win.

DECIDES TO GIVE UP SWIMMING

Sydney, Yesterday. The swimmer Arne Borg, inter- viewed by the Sydney Sun, with regard to his decision to retire at the end of his Australian tour, says: he intends to return to the IIHnois Athletic Club. He hopes to assume duties as an American university coach later.

He will forsake active swimming and enter business. He added, "My greatest pleasure will be to alt among the spectators at the next Olymplad and, watch others strain- ing to win."-Router. ·

Abraham showed two cinema films which greatly interested. One of the reels he photographed himself, and showed incidents in cricket, tennis and bowls matches played at ¦ the K.C.C., etc.

Mr. R., E. Lindaell, President of the Club, gave away the prizes. He congratulated the winners and ex- pressed thanks to the K.C.C., etc.
