DIVORCE LAWS
WHY HONG KONG HASN'T ANY
NOT NECESSARY HERE
Different Status in Some Other Colonies
ANTECEDENTS OF JURISDICTION ACT OF 1926
[Hy “L! Chung văn
Hong Kong has no divorce laws. Our sister Colony of the Straits Settlements (commonly referred to for convenience na Singa- pore) has-in a limited formi. India's divorce laws are more ad- vanced, approximating somewhat to conditions at Home.
Shanghai, not being a Colony, comes into a different category altogether, but it is interesting to know that His Britannic Majesty's Supreme Court in China was endowed a few years ago with divorce jurisdiction.
Our legislators know best whether legal machinery to obtain separation is desirable.
