A FURTHER ADVANCE

COMMERCE

A further step towards the co- ordination of existing coal market- ing schemes was made at a con- ference of colliery owners in Lon- don in mall week.

At the close of a prolonged con- ference, which was attended by

all the dis colllery owners from tricts in Great Britain, the follow- ing official report was issued:

"The meeting had before it re- ports of the progress which is being made in the formulation of schemes in certain districts, and the development of existing schemes, and the discussion of practicable arrangements for the eo-ordination of district arrange ments Was carried a stage further. There is every reason to be satisfied with the progress baing made.'

The following owners were pre-

gent:

Mr. Evan Williams, president of the Mining Association of Great Britain, Sir Adam Nimmo (in the chair), Lord Gainford, Sir Richard Pease, Mr. W. Ridley Warham, Mr. R. Angus, Mr. W. Benton Jones (chairman of the Central Collleries Commercial Association), Captain Roland Addy, Major J. Leslie, Mr. M. Warriner (Doncaster Collieries' Association), Mr. Reginald Guthrie, Mr. Thomas Evans (chairman of the South Wales and Monmouth- shire Coalowners' Association), Mr. Finlay A. Gibson, Mr. E. Allen, and Mr. W. A. Lee (secretary, of the Mining Association),
