To-day's Football

The following Mid-Wook League matches will take place this after noon, kick-off, 4 p.m. -—--

South China v. P.W.D. Chinese at Caroline Hill. Referee: Pte. and Farnsworth... Navy wore aggressive Barkham put over a nice corner

Hung Kui School v. Lam Lung which Mott cleared with difficulty, Wan, on Chinese ground. Referee: and later the Army goalle brought Pte. Lamb, off a fine clearance from Evans, the Navy then playing strongly.

Army broke away,

but Leach was bustled in getting in his shot, which went well over.

First Blood-

near

Navy were the first to acore, Mann capping a fine bit of work, and although Reeves came for the Army, the Navy forwards came back strongly, and Jones bustled Hooper off the ball and, scored easily.

', Army were strangely quiet, and excepting for one or two bursts by Cross on the right, the Navy backs dealt easily with most of the „efforts, and Mott saved smartly from Jones, the Navy centre for- ward being much in evidence. Navy held their lead to the in- terval, and the. acore of two to

nil did not flatter them.

Easy Third Goal

Army tried hard in the second half, but the. Navy halves were dominating the game. and Evans féading Barkham cleverly, the out- side right was nearly through on his own..

Reeves raised the Army hopes with a good shot past the post, but Mott was very smart in a fine clearance from Bowles. Leach fed Caldicutt and 'the winger gave Brockman a warm handful. Just after, Cross shot over, the Army at this stage doing well.

Pearks and Baker were big fac tors in the Navy defence, and after Caldicutt had sent a hot shot well over the bar, Evans burst -through, and feeding Barkham, the winger crossed just, in time. Jones notted Navy's third goal easily.

Navy On Top

The Navy were well on top now,

Ewo Chinese v. Athletic on St. Joseph's ground. Referee: L/Cpl. Grieve (K.O.S.B.).

Creck Out of Form

It was not Creek's day at all; even when Jones had reduced him- self to more or less of a plodder by the greed with which he had eaten up his stamina, the Corinthian was no more than a shadow of his real football self, his ball control hardly worth the mentioning, his passes given hurriedly and without that touch necessary to cohesion. He tried ever so hard to get going, but the ball and the pace of the ground, except at rare intervals, were beyond him.
