Evidence for the defence was given when the hearing was re- sumed, before Mr. Justice Rowlatt, in the King's Berch Division, of the action which the affairs of the Fenton Textile Association, Ltd. have been discussed for the past fortnight. It was the eleventh day of the hearing of the case, in which

large sum is concerned, The association, a large woollen manufacturing combine, which em braced many of the most important mills in Yorkshire, claimed damages from Major Peter David Thomas, formerly senior partner in Messrs. Peter Thomas and Clark, solicitors. of Bush-fane, Cannon-street, B.C., for the alleged wrongful conversion of the association's money,

and to Mr. Henry Fenton, the pro- miter and managing director, who bad an account with the association through the solicitors.

It was contended that, knowing this account to, be in debit to the association. Major Thomas allowed the combine's funds to be applied to the private purposes of Mr. Fenton. with the result that the association suffered great loss.

Major Thomas denied the allega tions, and said he did not know that Mr. Fenton's account was 'in debit.

Mr. F.S..Clark, with whom Major Thomas was in partnership, stated in evidence for the defence that he General

thought Mr. Fenton was a very wealthy man, and in Yorkshire he was looked upon as a millionaire. He described him as a "holding" man-a man who would not part Manager, with shares inlass he could avoid

it. Now he had not a shilling.

BIG EXPORTS' INCREASE

London, Dec. 12. The Board of Trade returns for November show that imports were valued at £106,855,875, showing a decrease of £582,000 compared with the corresponding month of 1927.

Exports were £63,766,502, a de- crease of £6,843,000.

For the first eleven monthëTMof this year, the imports totalled £1,095,000,000, this being a decrease of £18,500,000 compared with the corresponing period of last year.

The exports for the eleven months totalled £663,000,000, being an in- crease of £12,750,000.

The decrease in November experts is largely accounted for by a re duction in the exports of cotton and woollen goods amounting to There was also a de- £3,500,000. crease in the exports of vehicles, Including locomotives, ships and aircraft, to an extent of £675,000.
